Spotlight on Cindy and Dave
Volunteer Power Couple
Husband and wife, Cindy and husband Dave joined the volunteering family in December 2021 after seeing a Facebook advert for volunteers to help with the Regal pantomime. They had only recently moved to Tenbury Wells from Birmingham and thought it would be a nice way to meet new people and help in their local community. Now four years on, they can’t recommend enough the fun and rewards volunteering can bring.
They are both retired. Cindy spent most of her working life in an office environment mainly working within management for British gas and Dave has always been a hands-on manual worker, officially carpentry trained but throughout his working career has learnt most manual skills. Dave's favourite and proud duty each year is helping to build the scenery and props for the popular Regal pantomime and any other live production throughout the year. If you have been to any such events and admired the scenery you can bet Dave has helped in some way. Some examples of things he's built is a railway station and a staircase both for RCT and a tractor and a fruit machine for the Pantomimes. They have both really enjoyed meeting new friends along the way.
Cindy and Dave began volunteering on the bar and they now particularly enjoy working together in the studio bar for live event shows. They then both progressed into projection where Cindy spent nearly 3 years as the Projection Team Coordinator during which time she also joined the usher team. Dave is always on hand for any manual maintenance jobs, call outs when alarms go off and putting up flood defences during emergencies. Together they are such an asset to the Volunteer family at the Regal.
