From three-time Oscar® nominee and Golden Globe winner Dean DeBlois, the creative visionary behind DreamWorks Animation’s acclaimed How to Train Your Dragon trilogy, comes a stunning live-action reimagining of the film that launched the beloved franchise.

On the rugged isle of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been bitter enemies for generations, Hiccup (Mason Thames; The Black Phone, For All Mankind) stands apart. Definitely Mightbe | Oasis tribute

Didn't get Oasis tickets? Don’t worry, we’ve got the next best thing at the Regal!

The longest established Oasis tribute in the world with over 2,000 shows under their belt.  So, as good as the real thing?

Well the lengendary Alan McGee thought so when he recently introduced the band live on stage! So they…..DEFINITELY MIGHTBE.

Together for 18yrs and with over 2,000 shows under their belt, it’s easy to see why they are the most successful and admired Oasis show out there. With several tours on the prestigious o2 Academy circuit, appearances at huge open air festivals, continual tours across the UK and Ireland plus gigs all over Europe, the Middle East and even the Caribbean!

The backstage bust ups and slanging matches on Twitter proved too much for this great British band but DEFINITELY MIGHTBE don’t share the same sibling rivalry as the real thing. They do however have a lot in common when it comes to reproducing the rousing anthems, stage presence and atmosphere that the originals created. Playing a selection from all seven albums including the hit singles, live favourites and a couple of Noel’s acoustic numbers make this a great show to watch.

Lead singer Ian bears an uncanny resemblance to Liam and has worked as a look-a-like in the UK appearing on BBC1, Channel 4, Sky TV and ITV. Publicity campaigns and advertising for HMV, Virgin, Q Magazine, Loaded, Royal Bank Of Scotland, Lloyds Bank and the National Press. Ian was also asked to star in a video for heavy metal legends MOTORHEAD as Liam and also providing a voice over for a recent documentary accompanying the new Oasis-”Time Flies” DVD. To add to this, Ian has the knack of sounding like Liam too and was asked to provide the vocals on a dance remix of Wonderwall set for release in summer 2010.

Paul Mitchell takes up the reigns as Noel and mimics the riffs and lead breaks with such precision you’d think you were listening to the CD. A very loud CD. While the rhythm section of Kev Pyne on bass and Pete Coppard on drums keep everything locked together and completes the DEF MB family.

So, as good as the real thing? Well the legendary Alan McGee thought so when he recently introduced the band live on stage! So they…..DEFINITELY MIGHTBE.

Night In The Canyon

This homage to the golden age of American(a) music, 'A Night In The Canyon' features the timeless songs of James Taylor, Carole King, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Buffalo Springfield, Eagles, Joni Mitchell and more.

If that's not enough, the show will be performed by an unrivalled trio of noted high calibre artists in their own right. Namely Robbie Cavanagh (Winner of the Whispering Bob Harris Emerging Artist Award), Eddy Smith about to headline, in his own right, the famous 'Jazz Cafe' (where the likes of Bobby Womack, Chaka Khan and many more household names), and Jana Varga(Emerging Artist nominee, UK Blues and Roots) who is now in the band of (triple platinum and double Brit nominee) Rumer and Jana will also be opening for Rumer at a now sold out gig at the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Hall. So, not a show by your average, workmanlike, musicians!

As such, this is not a tribute show in the traditional sense of the word, but more the artists themselves performing their own takes, both individually and collectively, on these timeless classics of the late 60s/early 70s American songbook, together with an award winning song of two of their own, inspired by this legendary period of celebrated music..

Grey Wolf

We’re delighted to welcome back the popular Marches band Grey Wolf for a headline show on the 19th September.

Many will remember their hugely successful show in April last year and they’ve just followed that with another sell out gig in our studio as part of the Regal Folk Festival.

‘The nice thing about our recent gigs is the number of new faces we’re seeing,’ says Andy Offer, Grey Wolf’s bass player, ‘We love to see our friends and regular supporters but its great to meet new people too.  We’re preparing a new show for September with new songs and tunes as well as the old favourites,’ he adds, ‘We want to keep people coming back for more!’

A testimonial from a recent gig:

‘Their enthusiasm and clear love of the music, not to mention their obvious camaraderie, shines through while their talent on an array of instruments is highly impressive. They had the hall gripped, and smiling, for the full two hours. No wonder they are so popular.’

Rupert Anton – Pudleston Village Hall Chairman

Grey Wolf is an acoustic Americana/old-time folk band from the Welsh Marches playing traditional instruments such as banjo, fiddle, guitar, dulcimer, mandolin and double bass alongside fine vocal and harmony singing. The band has headlined several of the prestigious UK's Old Time American Music and Dance Festivals and has appeared on radio, at folk clubs, festivals, and music and literary venues throughout the UK.

With its infamous movie spoofs and hilarious regular characters such as Rambling Sid Rumpo, Charles and Fiona, J. Peasemold Gruntfuttock, and Julian and Sandy, Round the Horne was one of the biggest and best radio comedy shows of all time, and still endures today, 60 years on.

Seth Lakeman with Benji Kirkpatrick & Archie Moss

Seth was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2005 for 'Kitty Jay'. Multiple albums, tours and high-profile collaborations later, the acclaimed folk artist released his latest studio album The Granite Way in February on his own label, Honour Oak Records. It’s a collection of songs recorded alongside a group of longtime collaborators of Seth’s, staying true to his roots and referring to ancient stories that inspired early West Country storytelling.

Seth Lakeman: ‘Each song feels strongly connected through history to the moors and the sea. I had written the stories and songs beforehand and had the melodic tunes ready for us all to explore when we recorded in the room, and the musical interplay between this lineup really displays their appetite for sounds and subjects within the folk tradition.’

In recent years Seth was asked to record on Van Morrison’s album ‘Moving On Skiffle’ and he collaborated with Public Service Broadcasting. Seth has also previously worked, and toured extensively, with Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) with his band the Sensational Space Shifters.

Born on June 23, 1976, in Chesterfield, England, Ottewell began his musical journey at a young age, inspired by his father's eclectic record collection. In 1996, he co-founded Gomez with Ian Ball, Tom Gray, Paul Blackburn, and Olly Peacock while studying at university in Sheffield.

Gomez quickly gained attention with their debut album, "Bring It On," released in 1998, which won the Mercury Music Prize. Ottewell's distinctive vocals and songwriting contributed to the band's unique sound, characterized by a blend of blues, folk, and rock elements. The band went on to release several critically acclaimed albums, including "Liquid Skin" (1999) and "In Our Gun" (2002).

Throughout Gomez's career, Ottewell's soulful voice and introspective lyrics resonated with fans, earning him a dedicated following. BROADCAST | THE ROYAL BALLET | BALLET TO BROADWAY: WHEELDON WORKS

Mixed Programme; 1 Revival, 3 New Productions
Running time 180 minutes

Sensuous contemporary ballet meets the energy of musical theatre in four distinctive short works. Fool’s Paradise, The Two of Us, Us, An American in Paris: four works showing the remarkable choreographic range of The Royal Ballet's Artistic Associate, Christopher Wheeldon.

FOOL’S PARADISE
Luminescent and shimmering, Fool’s Paradise marked the first of Wheeldon’s many collaborations with composer Joby Talbot. It was created in 2007 for Wheeldon’s own company, Morphoses, and first performed in 2012 by The Royal Ballet.

THE TWO OF US
The wistful songs of Joni Mitchell set the scene for the UK premiere of The Two of Us, a duet of deep intimacy and yearning. It was created in 2020 for the Fall for Dance Festival in New York, and had American ballet dancers Sarah Mearns and David Hallberg in its original cast.

US (DUET)
Us is a tender duet danced by two men. It was created in 2017 for BalletBoyz and is set to Keaten Henson’s music.

AN AMERICAN IN PARIS (BALLET)
The Royal Ballet celebrates Wheeldon’s extraordinary success in musical theatre by performing the ballet scene from his Tony Award-winning musical An American in Paris. Set to Gershwin’s jazzy melodies, the musical is inspired by the 1951 film of the same name starring Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron. The musical went on to win four Tony awards. The full musical depicts a blossoming romance between the American G.I. Jerry Mulligan and a French ballerina, Lise Dassin. The ballet excerpt was Wheeldon’s take on one of the most memorable scenes from the film – an extended sequence in which the two central characters dance through Paris.

Rogue Opera Presents: Carmen Re-imagined

Carmen–Reimagined is presented in 3 parts, with 20 minute intervals, with a total running time of approximately 2 and half hours. The opera is sung in French, with English dialogue.

Join us this May for the first show in our inaugeral Regal Opera Festival.

In this intimate version of Bizet's Carmen, scored for four voices with piano accompaniment and a new English script by Director Bronwen Stephens-Harding, Rogue Opera presents a compact production re-imagined to bring you the essence of the story, the complexities of the characters and the beauty of the music.

Synopsis
Bizet’s Carmen is more than just a grand spectacle or operatic tragedy. Bizet broke operatic convention by celebrating proletarian and immoral ways of life, vividly bringing to life the character of Carmen as a complex, proud and spirited woman.

Rogue Opera strips away the pomp and pageantry to present a raw and intimate piece of theatre, examining the human emotions at the core of this tale of seduction, obsession, rejection and revenge.

Carmen and the gypsies seek a bohemian life, finding freedom outside of the law. José, drawn to Carmen, is torn between love, duty and honour. Micaëla, innocent and pious, represents a simpler way of life, and the charismatic bullfighter Escamillo soon becomes a rival for Carmen’s affections. The dramatic resolution of the opera’s story was shocking and unconventional in depicting such violence at its premiere in 1875. Just as shocking is that this tragedy is still pertinent today, where the simple act of saying ‘no’ too often turns love and passion into abuse and fatal revenge.

However, a new opportunity arises when Richard’s natural talent for drama catches the attention of his teacher, Philip Burton (BAFTA winner Toby Jones).

Taking Richard under his wing, the young man thrives thanks to Philip’s strict tutelage and the guidance of kindly landlady, Ma Smith (Academy Award nominee Lesley Manville). However, as the acting world comes within Richard’s reach, the burden of his past risks holding him back forever.

Directed by: Marc Evans

Hejira – Celebrating Joni Mitchell

Hejira – Celebrating Joni Mitchell

'Hejira’ is a 7-piece band set up to celebrate and honour the masterpiece works of Joni Mitchell, mostly from the late ‘70s.

Having released the albums ‘The Hissing of Summer Lawns’, ‘Hejira’, ‘Don Juan’s Reckless Daughter’ and ‘Mingus’, Joni then toured briefly with a band formed from the crème de la crème of contemporaneous musicians (Metheny, Mays, Brecker, Pastorius and Alias). The tour was recorded, producing the outstanding live recording, ‘Shadows And Light’; it is from this period that the band Hejira is drawing the body of its repertoire.

Comprising highly experienced, world-class musicians, Hejira is fronted by the brilliant Hattie Whitehead who not only has – in her own way – assimilated the poise, power and beauty of Joni’s vocals, but also plays guitar with Joni’s stylistic mannerisms. Expect an evening of the ‘great’ songs from Mitchell’s back catalogue, such as ‘Amelia', ‘Woodstock’, 'In France They Kiss On Main Street’, ‘Hejira’, ‘Black Crow’, ‘A Case of You’ ‘Free Man In Paris’ etc..

The full personnel is:
Hattie Whitehead ~ vocals; guitars
Pete Oxley ~ guitars
Ollie Weston ~ saxophones; bass clarinet
Chris Eldred ~ keyboards
Dave Jones ~ bass
Rick Finlay ~ drums
Marc Cecil ~ percussion
