Featuring a line-up of outstanding professional opera singers with soprano Erika Mädi Jones, mezzo soprano Bethan Langford, tenor Andrew Henley and bass-baritone Piran Legg, joined at the grand piano by pianist Charlotte Forrest. We are also delighted to announce that The Neen Sollars and Milson Community Choir will join our professional singers onstage to create an opera chorus for the occasion!

This evening is part of a weekend of events sponsored by Broughton Pianos (who are providing a beautiful Hailun semi-concert grand piano for the occasion) and is supported by the Malvern and District Council.

Meet the Talented Artists:

Soprano Erika Mädi Jones

Soprano Erika Mädi Jones: A rising young dramatic soprano whose standout performance as Elisabeth in Wagner's Tannhäuser at Longborough Festival Opera garnered critical acclaim. Known for her commanding stage presence and versatility, she has taken on challenging roles such as Sieglinde in Die Walküre and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni. Erika's talent has graced prestigious UK festivals and solo recitals concert highlights include performing Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder with the Royal Scottish National Symphony Orchestra.

Mezzo-Soprano Bethan Langford

Mezzo-Soprano Bethan Langford: A graduate of the Guildhall School Opera Course, Bethan's career highlights include roles with English National Opera and Scottish Opera. She has also delighted audiences as the alto soloist in Smyth's Mass in D at the BBC Proms. Bethan's captivating performances have taken her to esteemed venues like the Royal Opera House and Wigmore Hall.

Tenor Andrew Henley

Tenor Andrew Henley: Hailing from Monmouth, Andrew's journey from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama to the National Opera Studio has been marked by notable achievements, including the 2019 Dunraven Young Welsh Singer of the Year award. His operatic engagements span across Europe, and he's set to grace the Glyndebourne stage in the upcoming season.

Bass- Baritone Piran Legg

Bass-Baritone Piran Legg: With a Vocal Masters with Distinction and extensive opera experience, Piran has performed with prestigious orchestras and opera companies, including The London Symphony Orchestra, Garsington Opera and Scottish Opera. He's known for his ability to excel in both traditional and contemporary works, and his repertoire includes everything from Handel's "Messiah" to contemporary chamber operas. www.piranlegg.com


Pianist Charlotte Forrest

Pianist Charlotte Forrest: A Senior Vocal Coach for Glyndebourne Festival Opera and currently a regular member of visiting music staff for English National Opera, Grange Festival, Garsington Opera, Longborough Opera and Opera Holland Park, Charlotte spent 10 years as a member of music staff at Opera North and collaborated regularly with Sir Graham Vick for Birmingham Opera Company. Internationally, she has worked at the Bregenzer Festival, Estonian National Opera, Bergen Opera and L’Opera Comique in Paris.

She regularly gives masterclasses as a visiting lecturer and coach at the Royal Academy of Music, London, as well as the Royal Welsh College of Music and Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

Committed to bridging the divide between higher education and the profession, Charlotte has worked regularly for British Youth Opera, coached the Jerwood Young Artists at Glyndebourne, the Jette Parker Young Artists at the Royal Opera House, the Alvarez Young Artists at Garsington and has worked closely with the ENO Harewood Artists.

As a recitalist Charlotte is heard regularly on BBC Radio 3 and made her Wigmore Hall debut in 2011, going on to perform regularly there as well as at the Pisa Duomo, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Versailles and Paris Salle Pleyel. For nearly 20 years she has been Associate Keyboardist with the Monteverdi Choir and its orchestras, collaborating in over 30 projects with Sir John Eliot Gardiner.
